Back in high school I don't even know who Jan was. I just see him around school, walking, talking, eating, fooling around and I only know him by name. I only heard his name from my friends and my other batchmates but I really don't have any idea about his personality or anything about him. Yes, I was that ignorant with people around me :)).
I first knew who Jan was when we were in our 3rd year in high school. I saw him catch the spit of his friend with his mouth from the second floor of the science building and my instant reaction was " O.O ". (SHEEET! KADIRI!) I don't know what is going on in his head and he did that. All I know is that any sane person would not do it.
It was only when we got into college that I got to know who Jan is as a friend. We don't go to the same school. He studies at La Salle and he is taking up Human Biology. The first time that I got to talk to him was through text. Since there is a list of mobile numbers in our batch group, I tried to text those numbers and I got an instant reply from him. At first I felt awkward because I don't know what to say to him, luckily he was friendly enough to reply back even though we are not that close. Then as the months go by, we constantly talk via text or over the internet. It was during his birthday celebration that I got to see him again personally. At first I was hesitant to go, because I felt shy and I thought that we are not that close enough for him to invite me to his birthday celebration, but I ended up going hahaha!
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into month and as time goes by, I learned more about Jan. Through our conversations I learned that he is actually a weird person. Who knew that this person is actually weird? During our talks sometimes I get lost in our conversations and sometimes I don't know what he is saying. Others would find that annoying but I find it to be amusing and fun at the same time. He has this weirdness that does not annoy me. In fact it makes me laugh and it makes me question myself if I am in the right state of mind. He is also helpful and patient enough to listen to every word I say. I also noticed that he has this tendency to throw jokes that are sometimes hurtful to others. Sometimes I do get pissed at him but I know that it is not his intention to hurt people. Jan is also the person who tends to laugh a lot. Sometimes when we are talking he will suddenly laugh and it makes me wonder if what I was saying was funny or he sees me as a clown.
It seems that I had learned a lot about Jan and it may seem that we are really close. To tell you the truth, when we are talking through chat or through text I find it easier to talk to him about certain topics or just pure nonsense but when it comes to starting conversations with him personally, I don't know where to start and how to approach him and I get tongue tied. I feel shy when he is around and so when he is around my tendency is not to talk to him and divert my attention to other people (sorry Jan). I guess this is what happens when you rarely see each other and only talk through chat or text. But I am still happy that I got the chance to know him and learn things from him.
